Dr. Oz’s HealthCorps to host Health Fair in Elizabeth, New Jersey
Elizabeth, NJ (December 17, 2018) — HealthCorps, a national health and wellness nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Mehmet Oz and his wife Lisa dedicated to making students stronger, will host The Healthy Winter Wonderland Health Fair on Thursday, December 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Dunn Sports Center (660 Pearl Street) in Elizabeth, New Jersey. 2,000 students are expected to attended.
The winter-themed health fair will include 15 student-run booths displaying key HealthCorps lessons that are taught throughout the school year, including physical activity, nutrition, mental resilience and leadership. Student booth themes include: Rethink Your Drink, The Big Deal About Breakfast, Bust My Stress, and Why Get Physical.
“The Healthy Winter Wonderlandat Halsey and Dwyer High Schools will allow roughly 2,000 high schoolers to celebrate what they have learned from HealthCorps this semester. This will include activities revolved around healthy eating, healthy exercise, and maintaining a healthy mindset. It will consist of student lead booths as well as community organizations to promote healthy lifestyle habits,” said Kate Crimmins, HealthCorps coordinator at Admiral William F. Halsey Leadership Academy andJohn E. Dwyer Technology Academy.
In addition to the student-run booths, there will be 15 booths led by members of the Elizabeth community. These booths will include: YMCA, Bayway Family Success Center, Sahaja Meditation, Students Helping Out (SHOUT), City of Elizabeth Office of Youth, Elizabeth Public Library, Prevention Links, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey.
