On March 13th 2019, Le’Veon Bell signed a a four-year, $52.5 million contract with the New York Jets with $35 million guaranteed. At the time, the team needed running back help and Bell despite holding out his last year in Pittsburgh was still one of the best running backs in the league. Even though it looked like a fit on paper, on the field this signing was nothing but a complete flop and after just 2 year into his contract it’s over. On Monday, the New York Jets released Le’Veon Bell. Before cutting Bell, the team tried to trade him but there were no takers. With Bell now cut, the New York Jets now have $15M in dead cap in 2020 and $4M in dead cap in 2021. Bell had 2 years left on his contract.
